Monopoly, the game that has been teaching players basic real estate investment and capitalism for decades, now has a new lesson to teach: Socialism. Hasbro, the toy company that makes the board game, recently announced a new version that brings a revolution to the kitchen table.
The latest version of the game is called Woke Monopoly. Like older versions, when a player lands on an unowned property, they are given the opportunity to purchase. In Woke Monopoly, if a player cannot afford to purchase the property, another player with more money is forced to buy it for them.
Players who land on property owned by another player will now have the choice between paying rent or burning the property down. Chance and Community Chest cards that call for taxes to be paid will now only apply to the top 1% players. All other players can exchange the card for free cash.
New game pieces have been added to the classic collection. In addition to being able to choose from a hat, shoe, car, or dog, players can now opt for a Molotov Cocktail bottle or skateboard, the game creator’s hat tip to Antifa.
Woke Monopoly is scheduled for release this fall.
